"The most important things in life are not things.”
I am a former event planner who had a life-changing epiphany when I turned 40 and found myself asking the question: “What do I want to do with the rest of my life?”
That question led me to a seven-week bicycle trip across the U.S., which afforded me plenty of time to answer that question and to discover the next direction of my life. The trip was a fabulous adventure and I had many insights along the way. But it wasn’t until I returned home and read the book "The Artist’s Way” that my life took a radical change. I felt inspired to go back to school and attain a Masters in Adult Education, which gave me the foundation to begin teaching classes based on the book at a local college. My next life change came in 2004 when I survived a scary and unexpected bout with cancer. I found myself stuck and unable to move forward. It was then, upon facing my sadness, anger and depression, that I became aware that the mounds of clutter in my home — and the tendency to procrastinate — were blocking me from having a fulfilling and joyful life. After immersing myself in every decluttering book I could get my hands on, I was able to clear away my piles and free myself from the destructive cycle of clutter. As my things, which no longer served a purpose, disappeared, I became aware of the relationship between clutter and stifled creativity. Once I removed the clutter, clarity emerged, and creativity flourished. Utilizing my ingenuity, my knowledge for organizing, and my passion for empowering others, I developed my Declutter 101 Class. In 2008, I officially became a Reformed Clutterer-turned-Professional Organizer who understands as few do the challenges and the embarrassment that comes with a cluttered life. In addition to helping clients purge and organize their home, in 2018 I became an Organizing Coach through the renowned Coach Approach for Organizers Program. That expertise is now the cornerstone and essence behind my Organizing Mastermind and Zoom Organizing Power Hour. On a Personal Note: I was born and raised in Michigan where I earned my B.A. in Liberal Arts from Central Michigan University. I relocated to Florida in 1977, met my husband and instantly became a mother to his three kids. And that’s when my clutter life began! I was overwhelmed with the responsibility of being a mother, working full-time, cooking, cleaning, going to school and teaching fitness classes two nights a week. That’s all behind me now, but I use the knowledge and life experience to teach clients to take control of their clutter, and create the empowered and joyful life that they desire! |
As seen onI have been a member of NAPO (National Association of Productivity and Organizing since 2012. I have served on the Board of NAPO South Florida as Secretary.

"Working with Kathy has been an amazing experience! I had been so stuck, overwhelmed, and even shameful about all the stuffed closets, just deciding which direction to take with it all was a chore. Kathy’s guidance, focus and high energy helped me persevere with not only letting go of clutter, but ultimately creating a beautiful, organized office, a cheery room of my own where I feel relaxed and energized. Kathy was able to meet me where I was, no judgement, no pushing, just lovingly firm nudges to lead me through the process start to finish."
